Haleyville Airport Gets Impovements By Harold Bearden Tuesday, January 15, 2013 | 10:01 AM

Three projects are nearing completion at the Haleyville airport. First is a pavement rejuvenation and repainting the markings which is 99% complete. The contract price is $133,425.18 and the contractor is Pavement Maintenance Unlimited from Pass Christian, MS. 

The second project which is 50% complete is obstruction removal, the clearning of the northwest corner and southeast side adjacent to the runway. The contractor is Robertson Excavating of Winfield at a cost of $84,443.00.

The third airport project hanger rehabilitation, reskinning the large hanger. The work is 65% complete and is being performed by Northwest Bama Builders for $198,849.

The total for all three projects is $416,717.18 with with the primary funding from Federal Aviation Administration 95% grants The city's match is 5%, or $20,835.86. According to Calvin Cassady of The Cassady Company who is overseeing the projects, "if the weather breaks, we should be finished in about 4 weeks.
