Mrs. Beth Townsend, democracy and economics teacher at Haleyville High School, has been chosen by the Veterans of Foreign Wars as the VFW State of Alabama “High School Teacher of the Year.”

Superintendent Clint Baggett said, "This is an outstanding honor and is further proof that Haleyville teachers are top-notch! "

Townsend first was named the local and district winner, then selected as the top teacher in the State.
