Sheriff Hobby Walker with former Winston County Investigator Zak Green

Hobby Walker resigned Wednesday afternoon from his office of Sheriff of Winston County. Citing family reasons for resigning, following state law, the position was filled immediately with the swearing-in of Larry Gilliland, Winston County Coroner. Gilliland will fill the position until Governor Robert Bentley can appoint a replacement to fill Walker's remaining term in office.
