DELMAR -- There is one less marijuana distribution point in the county after a Friday evening raid by law enforcement, and Sheriff Rick Harris has said that the trend will continue.

Deputies, officers, investigators and agents from Winston County Sheriff's Office, District Attorney's Office, Arley, Double Springs and Haleyville police departments, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, raided a home at 12749 Alabama Highway 13 in the Delmar community shortly before 7 PM Friday.

Undercover assets recently purchased illicit drugs out of the home, giving law enforcement the opportunity to obtain a search warrant. The operation Friday night is the culmination of approximately three months of investigation and is the answer to several citizens who asked Harris “to do something about them.”

Law enforcement seized approximately one pound of marijuana, many prescription medications not belonging to anyone in the home, and several weapons. Details are forthcoming on a possible lab also discovered.

Eight people were in the home when the raid began. Two escaped into the woods. Arrested were James Christopher Burleson, Gary Dale Hornsby, Joshua James Alsup, and Dennis Alsup.
