Kyle Defoor of Defoor Proformance to run 34 miles on May 16 in Haleyville to raise money for The Mark Forester Foundation

Each year, family, friends and supporters of Mark Forester gather to walk in honor of their fallen brother and friend.  Each mile walked represents the age Mark would be that year.  Defoor, however, will run the 34 miles, while the rest of the participants walk as they do each year.    

Kyle Defoor, Haleyville native and friend of the Forester’s, chose to make his annual charity event benefit Mark’s foundation.  After serving in the Navy, he has become one of the most skilled and effective firearms and tactics instructors in the U.S. 

Defoor is also an avid runner and outdoors man. He is posting his weekly running schedule and workouts on his Facebook page as a way to provide coaching as well as draw attention to why he's preparing to run 34 continuous miles in the hilly terrain of Haleyville.  He asks his supporters to donate to the cause.  

Born and raised in Haleyville, AL, Senior Airman Mark Forester was killed in action on Sept. 29, 2010 in Afghanistan.  He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for heroism in combat.
