Two Local Teams Advance to NW Regionals

The Haleyville High Lions basketball team defeated Deshler Tuesday night 54-50 in sub regional play at the HHS gym. The win advances the Lions to the 4A Northwest Regional playoffs in Hanceville at Wallace State Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. against East Lawrence. In 1A, the Phillips High Bears defeated Marion County Tuesday night and will also advance to the Norhwest Regionals at Hanceville where they will play RA Hubbard at 4:30 Friday afternoon. Phillips High and Phillips Elementary schools will be dismissing school at 1 p.m. on Friday, due to the Varsity Boys Basketball Team playing in Hanceville at 4:30 in the Northwest Regional tournament.
