Lions Boot the Bulldogs

The Haleyville Lions traveled to Carbon Hill Friday night to face the Bulldogs. Haleyville defeated Carbon Hill 54-36, with young Lions playing most of the second half. Here's a breakdown of last week's game.

The Lions came out and scored early in the first quarter with a 1 yard run by Quarterback Conner Kiser, and Kiser followed up with a pass to Sherrill to put the Lions up 8-0 with 9:32 remaining in the quarter. Next, Kiser completed a 16 yard pass to Jonas Dodd, and Dillon Posey missed the point after attempt to extend the lead 14-0. Then, Sherrill scored on a 35 yard run, and Posey completed the kick to take the Lions up 21-0 with 3:12 remaining in the opening quarter.

The Lions opened the second half with a Kiser pass to Posey for a 90 yard score, and the Lions took a 27-0 lead. Next, Kiser completed a pass to Posey again for a 68 yard touchdown run further extending the Lions lead to 34-0. Completing scoring for the half, Posey scored on a 48 yard run with 1:08 remaining and completing the 41-0 lead at the half.

To begin the second half, many young Lions took the field against the Bulldogs and received valuable regional play time. The first score of this half was a 1 yard run by Nate Johnson for the Bulldogs. They also completed the two point conversion to take the score to Haleyville 41 Carbon Hill 8. The Lions then returned, and Brady Sherrill scored on a 36 yard run, and the Lions took a 48-8 lead after Posey completed the extra point. The Bulldogs then scored on an Avery to Gann 50 yard pass to end the third quarter of play at 48-14.

The Bulldogs continued their scoring run with a 16 yard run by Tyler Rasberry and completed the two point conversion to make the score Lions 48 Bulldogs 22. Next, the Lions returned and scored on an 11 yard run by Will Evans, but Posey missed to extra point. The Bulldogs returned with an Avery to Gann 57 yard pass and completed the two point conversion. The final score of the game came with 1:06 remaining on a 1 yard run for the Bulldogs by Tyler Rasberry. The final score was Haleyville 54 Carbon Hill 36.
