The Haleyville City Council met for the regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening, and all council members were present. The following items were approved.

  • special council minutes from 6/19/14
  • vacating  12th Avenue between 19th and 20th Streets, directly behind the Haleyville Fire Station
  • negotiating of a sales contract for property for the new Haleyville Fire Department
  • additional month's rental of the track hoe for work at the Haleyville Sportsplex
  • use of Winston County's electronic vote counters for all future city elections
  • two change orders for the CDBG grant work in Comeens Subdivision in the total amount of $10,772 that will be covered from the grant money received
  • advertisement to hire two police officers for the Haleyville Police Department after one resignation and to cover the need for an additional officer
  • pay adjustment for Emily Farris  because of status change from seasonal worker to regular part-time employee last January (The pay was never adjusted to reflect the change of status.)

The discussion of a proposed fire prevention ordinance was tabled until the next meeting to give council members more time to become familiar with the ordinance and to discuss any needed changes and adjustments. This ordinance was drafted due to the Insurance Services Office's (ISO) upcoming visit to Haleyville for re-evaluation and because of the new ISO guidelines for cities.
