The annual Toys for Kids drive is underway, and we need your help!

Co-Chairman Toni Young Childers stated there are currently 117 children ages 12 and under registered to receive this service this year, and the application deadline is not until December 13, 2013. Toni stated, "The need is great, but donations are down. It's easy to help, and there are several options. You can stop by First National Bank, Pinnacle Bank, or Alabama Power Company to pick out a star to sponsor a child for $40. These stars will tell you the child's gender and age, and you just buy for them.  You can also drop off a new toy or monetary donation at any of these locations." If you would like to donate but are not able to give monetarily, you can still contribute to the cause! The gifts will be purchased, divided, and given out the week of December 8-13, 2013 at the American Legion Hall behind the Lions' Den. Contact Barry Burleson at First National Bank to schedule a convenient time to volunteer.

Co-Chairman Barry Burleson stated, "Every dime we collect goes toward purchasing toys for the kids.  There are no overhead expenses because everyone volunteers their time, and the American Legion allows the use of the facility free of charge for the event.  It takes a whole community to come together to make this happen." Barry also stated they are asking for donations from local businesses. Remember, Toys for Kids is a 501c3 organization, and all donations from both businesses and individuals are tax deductible. The organization is run the Alabama Power Community Service Organization, and every penny is always accounted for.  Your money stays in your community and is always appreciated by the families and the volunteers who give so much time to this project. Checks can be made payable to the Alabama Power Community Service Organization.
