By way of a number of events in her life, Louisa Elizabeth Jane Bates Brooks became known as one of the most notorious people in all of North Alabama. She was known all around as simply “Aunt Jenny,” and she is the legend of many tales.
Tuesday evening, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. the Haleyville Public Library will host an evening with Aunt Jenny. Carla Waldrep will tell the many stories of the life and legend of this infamous lady from the Warrior Mountains (Bankhead Forest). Waldrep has been presenting the living history of Aunt Jenny for more than ten years and will now share her stories with anyone who would like to attend. Waldrep will conclude the program with some of the famous ghost stories about Aunt Jenny and other spirits that haunt our great state.
