Women's Self-Defense Class

The Winston County Sheriff's Department is holding a women's self-defense class.  The series will be a total of six classes starting June 22 and ending in August.  They will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Double Springs Municipal Building. The class will be taught by Jason Darty of Gracie United in Jasper. He is an instructor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent.  The series will cost $60 but includes all six classes. The Winston County Sheriff's Department will not retain any of the funds, as they will be used only to pay the instructor.
