Haleyville BOE Accepts O'Rear Resigination

The Haleyville Board of Education met Tuesday evening with all members present except Boo Haughton. The board approved the resignation of Russ O'Rear, effective at the end of this school year. 

Mr. O'Rear told HBTV news he was planning to pursue other opportunities and wanted to thank all the people, both staff and parents, who have become his friends and supporters for the past 15 years. 

In other action, the board approved expenditures for November, 2012 in the amount of $1,351,648.58 and December, 2012 for $1,304,099.72. The board approved several other items including an amendment to the 2013 budget, a field trip for DECA students, purchase of a copier machine, second selected section of the Personnel Policy, the sale of two used vehicles to the highest bidders, the 2013 sports schedules, and the final selected section of the Personnel Policy and Cheerleader Policy. The board also approved five fundraisers.

Dr. Miller, Superintendent of Education praised the work and dedication of the members of the Haleyville Board of Education, especially during School Board Appreciation Month. Present members are Steve Stott, President, Kris Burleson, Beth McAlpine, Sandra Manasco and Boo Haughton. 

The next scheduled meeting of the Haleyville BOE will be February 19 at 7 p.m.
