On September 28, 1989, on a stormy Friday, my two young boys and I loaded everything left behind by the packer into my minivan and moved from Marianna, Arkansas to Haleyville to begin a new job on Monday, October 1, 1989. The job was only guaranteed for one year. By the end of that year, I would need to decide to either move back to somewhere I had lived before or stay in Haleyville and try to make it as a new physician in a new town.
That was 20 years ago. Many things have changed over those years and a lot has happened, but I have no regrets for staying. My boys and I grew to love this town and its people. We feel proud to call this our home. We wish to thank everyone for their patronage and friendship.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vanessa Ragland |
