Barry Anderson was saved from a burning house fire by passer-bys who helped get him to safety. Mr Anderson had a stroke several years ago and was living with a friend and caretaker, Linda Burrell. Mr. Anderson was home alone when the fire broke out in the kitchen. He stated he was warming up supper. Haleyville firemen quickly extinguished the fire which did extensive damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the house. The house is owned by Anderson's friend, Linda Burrell, who was out of town at the time of the fire.
