The Haleyville Schools are asking for assistance and cooperation regarding Valentine's Day deliveries to the schools.

Bus transportation policy prohibits bottles, cans, food, balloons, etc, on buses. According to Superintendent Clint A. Baggett, “The 'etc' has been defined as glass flower vases, extra large stuffed animals or figures, and even large musical instruments.” Baggett added that this policy is for the safety of all students and the bus driver. If a student receives such a delivery at school, a parent or some alternative home travel will be required.

Also, the schools are concerned with students, faculty and staff with severe allergies that can be triggered by certain scents, aromas and latex balloons. Baggett said, “A special request, with my personal strong encouragement, is to ask that no latex balloons be purchased and personally delivered to any Haleyville School.”

Latex balloons are common balloons and the type that have stuffed animals, candy, etc, inside; not the shiny, brightly colored Mylar balloons. Mylar balloons are the most popular as special phases are often written on them and they are more eye-catching. Baggett asks, “If a balloon is ordered please purchase a Mylar type balloon instead of a Latex.”
