Local Couple Charged with Meth Manufacturing

David Lorin Lirone, 43, and Yvette Ann Lorine, 39, a couple living on Beech Grove Road in Haleyville, were arrested Thursday, January 28, 2010, and charged with 1st Degree Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance and Chemical Endangerment of a Child.

Haleyville Police, acting on an anonymous tip, arrived at 724 Beech Grove Road in Haleyville last Saturday, January 23. There, they found two active "cooks" of what they believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine. The "cookers" were in a closet next to the bedroom of the of the couple's 5-year-old son. The apartment was occupied by the couple and the son at the time.

The apartment was cleared and Haleyville Fire was dispatched while police made the area safe. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Hazardous Materials Unit was summoned. The child was turned over to a family member. Haleyville Fire was released at 10:15 that evening, and Haleyville Police cleared the area at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, after the DEA's arrival.

Haleyville Police then obtained arrest warrants for the Lirones and executed the warrants on Thursday. They are being held in the Winston County Jail on $1,000,000 bond. Posted in News | Crime and Courts
