Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday evening at the Haleyville City Hall with Bud Wilson and Royce Benefield absent. The council approved the minutes of their last meeting on March 7 and the general operation bills for February in the amount of $397,831.99.

An approval was made for a title search for the property of 12 individuals included in the Cripple Creek Grant due to complications which have been incurred in the past. The cost will be approximate $2,400. 

With the paving of 18th Avenue at the Crossway Church, approval was made for a culvert on the street. 

Authorization was made for the purchase of a double axle trailer with a ramp to be purchased for $1,850. The trailer will be used to haul street barriers being purchased by the Haleyville Chamber of commerce. These barriers will be utilized during the 9-1-1 weekend and at other times as needed.

An approval was made for a street light at 4th Avenue and 12th Street.

In a unique program, the Rescue Squad will be receiving two three-seater personal watercraft to be used by the rescue Squad for water rescue and recovery. The Yamaha Waverunners will be loaners and are made available at no cost to the Rescue Squad or the city. After 6 months, they will be returned to the dealer, Allsports in Decatur and replaced with new ones. The Haleyville Rescue Squad asked for and received the endorsement of the city council.

The council was asked to review the proposed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Haleyville Police Department. 

Mayor Sunseri announced the hiring of Tori Parker as seasonal employee lifeguard at $8.50 hour for her fourth year as a lifeguard.

The next scheduled meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, April 4, 5:30 p.m. at the Haleyville City Hall.
