David Cox, Manager of the Haleyville Water and Sewer Department stands in front of the new office buiding which will have a ribbon cutting ceremony with Congressman Robert Aderholt Friday, January 30. Following the ribbon cutting at 2 p.m., a reception and open house will be inside from 2 to 4 p.m.

According to Cox, the greatest advantage over the old location at city hall is a drive-thru window. However, there are some stipulations to using the drive-thru. First, you must have your bill and you can pay only by cash or check. The idea is to not hold up the line by having to look anything up or get approval for a bank card. If you do not have your bill or want to pay by bank card you will need to go inside.

Water Department office personnel will be closing the old office at noon on Wednesday, January 28 and reopen Monday, February 2. The new 2500 square foot building is located at 808 21st Street at the corner of Alabama Avenue.

Cox pointed out the structure was built on land already owned by the water department and no money was borrowed to build.
