In Tuesday evening’s Haleyville City Board of Education meeting, the board voted to terminate all staff and teachers of the 21st Century after school program due to loss of grant funding for the program. HCS Superintendent Dr. Alan Miller has stated that the after school program will continue, but it will now be called Extended Day and will not be funded through that grant. There will not be a gap in the after school program, and the students will not see the effects of this changeover. Parents WILL NOT have to find alternative after school plans, as all scheduling for this program will remain the same.  Dr. Miller also stated that the teachers who were terminated at Tuesday’s meeting are expected to be hired back at the November meeting to fill the positions in Extended Day, but it is unclear about the additional support staff at this time.
