Haleyville lost another great man Thursday with the death of Gary Warren. Warren was the Executive Director of the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce who passed away Thursday due to medical complications. 

In addition to serving as the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Warren was the Chairman of the Haleyville 9-1-1 Festival. He was also well known for his many years of service to the Haleyville City School System where he taught Building and Construction Maintenance from 1974-1993 and served as the Career/Technical Director from 1993 until his retirement in December 2008. Upon his retirement from Haleyville City Schools, Warren served on the State Board of Education and has been a pillar of the Haleyville community for a countless number of years.

Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri stated Jade Bice and Natalie Boykin will assume all roles and responsibilities of the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce until an appointment can be made for the role of Executive Director. 

The Haleyville Chamber of Commerce has established the Gary Warren memorial Scholarship to benefit students of HHS. Donations can be made at Traders and Farmers Bank or call the Chamber at 486-4611.
