Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening. Councilmen Bud Wilson and Richard Bittinger were absent. The following items were approved. 

 

-regular council minutes from 3/3/14 (Jonathan Bennett abstained)

-February general operational bills in the amount of $402,738.78

-work to the outdoor basketball and tennis courts at the 21st Street Gym

-amendment to the personnel policy to detail the bereavement policy

-amendment to the purchase and sale agreement with T Investments on the purchase of Haleyville City Hall to extend the Development Period and Contingency to May 8, 2014

-advertising for seasonal employees for Haleyville Street and Sanitation and Park and Recreation

 

Additional details on the above approvals:

 

-The outdoor courts at the 21st Street Gym will undergo changes that will provide 2 tennis courts and 4 half-court basketball courts. This will cost approximately $10,000, and more improvements will likely be needed in the future, including fencing, lighting, and security cameras. 

 

-Updated details to the bereavement policy: 3 days of paid leave for immediate family including husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, or grandchild; 1 day paid leave for uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, brother-in-law, sister-in-law; Out of town funerals of 100 miles or more will be approved for an appropriate number of days at the mayor's discretion. 

 

-Mayor Sunseri has already hired some lifeguards for the summer- Winston Barton, Tori Parker, and Kaylin Gravitt at $7.50/hour and Samantha Carpenter (head lifeguard) at $8.50/hour. All are returning lifeguards.
