The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4543 held the annual awards program Monday night. The following awards were presented by the VFW Post. 

• Gold Medal Awards
  • J. Edgar Hoover Law Officer of the Year: Chief Shane Whitten of the Bear Creek Police Department
  • Emergency Services Responder Fireman of the Year: Thomas Lee Springer of the Haleyville Fire Department
  • Outstanding EMT of the Year: Stacy Lacey of Regional Paramedic Services

• Teachers of the Year
  • Kindergarten-5th Grade: Mindy Seymour from Haleyville Elementary School
  • Kindergarten-5th Grade: Cynthia Tittle from Lynn Elementary School (not pictured)
  • 6th Grade-8th Grade: Lisa Cagle from Lynn High School
  • 9th Grade-12th Grade: Lori Davis from Lynn High School
