One Fatality in Two Vehicle Accident

The Haleyville Police Department, Haleyville Fire Department, Alabama Department of Public Safety, Winston County Sheriff's Department, Delmar Fire Department, and Lynn Police Department worked a two vehicle accident on State Highway 13 South Tuesday just after 3:30 a.m. This accident occurred just south of the old Captain Dave's location, and State Highway 13 was shut down for several miles until around 8:30 a.m.

The accident involved a 2012 Freightliner truck, registered to Penske Truck Leasing and leased to Marshall Durbin, and a 1988 Dodge Ram pickup. The Freightliner was driven by Jimmy Robinson, age 62 of Cordova, and the Dodge was driven by Ryan "Chase" Thompson, age 28 of Haleyville. Robinson had only minor injuries, but Thompson passed away from injuries sustained during the crash. The accident is under investigation by the Haleyville Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
