UPDATE: The storm shelter has arrived for the Scout Hut in South Haleyville.  It was placed Tuesday afternoon, and final preparations will be made, as weather permits, before the shelter is opened to the public.  The shelter for the Neighborhood Facilities Building will arrive Wednesday, and similar preparations will be taken for that community shelter as well.

The City of Haleyville received FEMA grants to assist with the installation of four new storm shelters for the city.  Mayor Ken Sunseri stated that two shelters will be completed before construction begins on the last two.  Each shelter will be certified to shelter ninety six people during severe weather.  Installation has begun behind the Neighborhood Facilities Building and at the Scout Hut in South Haleyville.  The final two shelters will be at the North Industrial Park and near the airport to allow access by the most people in the city.
