Judge Mike Newell administered the oaths of office Monday night to Mayor Ken Sunseri and to Councilmembers Royce Benefield, Drew Thrasher, Bud Wilson, Jonathan Bennett and Bicycle Bittinger.

Sunseri pointed out that this was the first time that he could remember an entire council and mayor succeeding itself intact.

In its regular meeting the Council voted unanimously to have the City pay the single health care premium for each full time employee. That will put just over $400 per year in pay checks, before taxes. The Council did the same for all department heads, but the amount is equal to the family health care premium.

The Council accepted the FEMA grant for a tornado safe room at Neighborhood Facilities Building. This will be the City's third.

Three City employees received what the Council termed as "pay adjustments." Each received an increase in the hourly rate of pay.

The Council also dispatched with "housekeeping" that all new councils handle. Succinctly, all employees of the City "shall continue in their respective duties temporarily, pending such time, as the council shall make permanent appointments."

The Council's next meeting is Monday, November 19, 11 AM, at City Hall.
