UPDATE, Friday, July 20, 10:15 AM -- On the ballot for Place 1, the name "Mark Lloyd Townsend" will appear rather than "Lloyd Townsend," Bear Creek Town Clerk Ava McCurley said Friday morning. (Complete story forthcoming.)

BEAR CREEK -- Last minute switches in the qualifying Tuesday evening for the Bear Creek election had one candidate changing places and one incumbent vacating his seat to run for another.

Don Lawler, the current councilmember from Place 5, is now running for Place 4. Mark Townsend, on the ballot as Lloyd Townsend, withdrew from Place 4 and qualified for Place 1. There are now three council places without incumbents: places 3, 4, and 5.
