Smart Victim Alerts Businesses

The "Smart Thinking Award" goes to the person who had the foresight to contact area businesses after some checks were stolen from her. And, sure enough, one of those checks appeared at Goar's Monday morning, April 2, with two men attempting to cash it. An alert employee contacted police. James Henry Treece, 22, of Haleyville, and Jimmy Wayne Godsey Jr., 33, of Double Springs, were arrested April 2 and charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument. Treece faces the additional charge of Forgery.
