Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri announced the areas and dates for the city wide clean-up for the month of September. This clean-up will consist of city sanitation workers and equipment removing items from curb sides in four separate areas. "City employees are not permitted on private property. We have asked our civic organizations and churches to assist in having material moved to the road for pick up. You may call 486-5052 to request assistance if needed. Mayor Sunseri explained, "The transfer station will not accept the following items, so we will not be able to pick up theses items up. Hazardous waste, tires, cutting oils, appliances with Freon, acids, wet paint, incinerator ashes, asbestos, contaminated products and televisions." "However, the city will pick up the following appliances for recycling or disposal: refrigerators with the Freon removed, television sets, stoves, dried paint cans." The mayor ask everyone to participate in the clean-up and those that can please assist your neighbors. He stated, "It is essential for economic development to maintain a favorable image for prospective industries and we appreciate everyone's help." |
