The head librarian for the Haleyville Public Library, Carla Waldrop loves history and has spent many hours researching the life and times of a women who was born in 1826 and lived till 1924 in the Bankhead Forest. Most local natives have experienced a visit to the home site of Aunt Jenny Brooks, who became a legend in this area. Even more have heard the stories of the woman who became infamous in Winston, Franklin and Lawrence Counties. Carla does more than retell some of the old stories, she also dresses the part.
