Wonderful Diversity of
Available Recreational Opportunities
Mike Henshaw
Mike Henshaw spoke to the Haleyville Rotary Club Thursday, March 20  about the wonderful diversity of available recreational opportunities  available to our area. In addition to Smith Lake and the Bankhead  Forest, Natural Bridge and Dismal Gardens were mentioned asgreat  places to visit. Mike is the Extension Agent for Winston County and  can be reached in Double Springs at 489-5376.
Michael Witt, Director of Training for Business and Industry for  Northwest-Shoals Community College (NWSCC) addressed the Rotary Club  on Thusday, March 27. NWSCC is heavily involved in the training for  the new rail car manufacturing facility that is presently
being built  in Colbert County in the Barton Industrial Park. The school will soon  be offering more specific training in welding and industrial  maintenance at the NWSCC campus in Phil Campbell for potential  workers at this plant. One building that is presently under  construction is 450 feet wide and almost one mile long. Three lines of  rail cars will be produced in the plant, hopefully by the end of this  year. Well paid welders and engineers will be hired and will be a  great economic boost to northwest Alabama. Information on the company  National Steel Cars can be found at www.steelcar.com. Check out their  web site, you will see why everyone is excited.
