With all members present, the Haleyville city council met at 8 a.m. instead of the normal 6 p.m. in order to canvass and certify the city election held on August 26.
Minutes from the regular council meeting of 8/19/08 were approved as well as contracting for the striping of the recently paved streets downtown.
The council approved the paving of streets in Brookhaven II and Hill Top subdivisions. These paving projects will be funded with money left over from the downtown revitalization paving project.
Approval was made for the purchase of 40 folding chairs from Wal-Mart for the senior exercise program at the 14th Avenue Gym.

The next regular scheduled city council meeting will be Tuesday, September 16, 6 p.m. at city hall.
