Judge Jonathan Lowe Honored by City Council
With the exception of Bobby Jack Fuller all members were present with the first order of business approved the certificate of election for Drew Thrasher.
The council approved the regular minutes of 9/2/08 and the August general operation bills.
Richard Cutting was hired as a school crossing guard.
The council approved contracting with Judicial Correction Services to collect fines for the city court and offering time payments to defendants who are unable to pay the complete fine at the time of sentencing.

Sue Southern, city magistrate, read a proclamation and Mayor Albright presented a plaque honoring City Judge Jonathan Lowe for his work as Haleyville City Judge.

Approved renting blue house at end of 19th Street next to City Cemetery to Tommy Vick for his florist business.
Approved one time salary supplement (Christmas bonus) for city employees.
Approved application for grant to build an outdoor classroom at the city lake for use by HHS & HES students. This will be a joint project by the city and the Haleyville schools.
Approved Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines.
Approved repair (purchase new compressor) for Library air conditioner.
Approved hearing to speak & answer questions to Charter Communication (TV Cable) to be held at 6 p.m. concurrent with the next city council meeting on October 7.
Rescinded resolution which prohibited heavy trucks and equipment to be placed on the newly paved parking lot behind McDonalds in order to allow the Lions Club Carnival to use the area beginning next Wednesday.
The next regular scheduled city council meeting will be Tuesday, Oct 7, 6 p.m.
