In other business, the council approved a pay adjustment for a street & sanitation mechanic and then voted to advertise for a park & recreation assistant for the summer season. They also approved hiring a part time lifeguard.
Pets, specifically dogs, brought into the city's storm shelter (in the basement of the library) during the last storm brought several complaints. After discussing the issue with the city attorney, the council decided to ban all pets from the shelter. Working animals, i.e., seeing eye dogs, are the only exception to be allowed.
