Superintendent’s Report
To the Public
BOE Meeting
6/24/08

1. I would like to offer our heart-felt condolences to the Floyd family. Tritt Floyd was a ninth grader and a member of our football team. HHS morns the loss as an extended, school family, along with his biological family. We will be available for any support we can possibly offer.

2. Place #1 on our Board will be up for election this year. The election schedule will coincide with City elections for mayor and council. Qualifying will be from July first through the fifteenth at City Hall. Election Day will be August 26 and if a run-off is necessary, it will be October 7. Mr. Mark Butler now holds Place #1.

3. I would like to recognize Ms. Sandra Manasco for being named one of Winston County’s “Ms Southern Hospitality” last weekend during the celebration of our county’s 150th Birthday. Over the years, Ms. Manasco has opened her home to a variety of social events and we offer our congratulations to her for this honor.

4. This Board held a Work Session last Thursday at the Albright Administrative Building with all members present. We discussed the construction of our new middle school, personnel needs, along with other short and long range objectives of our school system. No official business was transacted.

5. The next Regular Session of the Haleyville City Board of Education is scheduled for July the 17th here in the Choral Music Room of the high school with a Work Session before. This is a change from our regular meeting night due to several conflicting meetings in July.
