The HHS Roaring Lion Marching Band, under the capable leadership of drum majors Emily Harris and Justin Pipkins, competed at the 1st Annual Kudzu Klassic at Russellville High School. This was the first
contest outing for the band this year, and was incredibly
successful. Superior ratings went to the Drum Major, Majorettes,
Percussion, and Band. The group was also awarded the prestigious
Most Entertaining Band award. In addition, the Percussion,
Majorettes and Band received the highest scores in their class, and
for her efforts on the podium, Harris received a score of 95, not
only highest in class, but highest for the day, besting powerhouse
150-200 member groups from Florence and Birmingham.
Congratulations for these achievements and for a wonderful season
thus far. Follow the Lions and the Roaring Lion Marching Band as
they travel to Corner this week. The band's next competition will be
the Pride of Hayden Competition in Hayden on October 18th.
