MAN DIES IN FIRE

Cecil Bates died in an early morning fire that destroyed his camper trailer located just off Ellenburg Drive behind Sav-A-Lot. Bates was apparently home alone at the time of the fire. One of the first to arrive, Haleyville police SGT Jason Williams first helped the firemen fight the fire then assisted in the search through the charred ruins for the owner. The state fire marshall and Winston County Corner were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire and death.
