• All members present except Johnny Frazier.
  
• The council approved the work session and regular council meeting minutes of 8/21/07.
  
• After some discussion, the council approved applying for a Federal grant administered by the State. The grant will be used for an engineering study of 20th street for the possible widening to 3 lanes and adding sidewalks from Highway 13 next to city hall to the schools.
  
• Tommy Vick expressed his concern over plans to widen the street and how it would affect his business. Jimmy Kent Isreal, representing the First Baptist Church was also present to learn about the widening plans. Both were told that the council approval of resolution 1007-25 was for the engineering study and the decision to pursue the project would most likely rest with the next administration.
  
• The next city council meeting will be Tuesday, September 18 at city hall.

The City of Haleyville Downtown Revitalization Committee will hold a Public Hearing on September 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the courtroom at City Hall to discuss plans for a Downtown Park on the vacant lot behind Maxx Cleaners.
