Peanut Butter Recall
OMAHA, Neb., Feb 14, 2007

ConAgra Foods is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate a statistical report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that these products may be linked to the foodborne illness salmonella.

Peter Pan peanut butter has issued a recall, and hundreds of people, including those right here in New York, have been infected with salmonella. The FDA said the peanut butter is likely the cause. If you have this brand of peanut butter at home, check the product code number on the lid of the jar; the product code number on the affected jars starts with 2111.

So far, about 300 people have become infected. Some of them have had to be hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.

ConAgra will refund consumers who purchased Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter. Save the product lid and send it to ConAgra along with your name and mailing address.
