Ray Farm Pond on Littleville Road

Under contract with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) Southern Earth Sciences of Mobile is taking core samples in the Haleyville area in advance of the construction of the second section of the "I-22

connector "locally known as the Haleyville bypass. The work will continue for several weeks. The core data will be used in the final design of the the new four-lane highway which will cross Littleville Road (aka Ray Farm Road) and go through where the pond is presently located. The purchasing of the right-of-way for the road is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2007. Acquisition normally takes approximately 18 months. Construction on the second section of the highway from Franklin County Road 79 to Highway 195 next to Wal-Mart will begin after the right-of-way has been obtained. The pond will be drained at that point.
