January 8 - Phone Tip Leads to Arrest |

William David Jackson, 51, Boonesville, MS, formerly of Haleyville, CR 23, is presently in the Winston County jail charged with solicitation to murder, a Class A felony. He was arrested December 29 at Hardees in Haleyville while attempting to hire a man from Haleyville, a former neighbor, to kill his 17-year-old stepdaughter. The deal was for a total of $2000 of which Jackson reportedly gave the man $500 and the title to a 2000 Chevy Malibu to hold until he could bring the other $1500. The Winston County Sheriff’s office, acting on a telephone tip, notified the FBI and the two agencies were on hand with surveillance when the solicitation was made which led to the arrest. No court date has been set for a hearing. |
