Sandy had the honor of working under the Judgeship of two wonderful Probate Judge's. In 1972 Sandy worked for Judge A.L. Wakefield until he retired in 1977. Judge Billy C. Ford was elected in 1977 and severed until 1994 when he retired from public office. Sandy served as his chief clerk for 18 years. Sandy ran for Probate Judge on the Republican Ticket and was elected in 1994 to serve the people of Winston County as the first female Probate Judge in the history of the county. She ran for reelection in 2000 and is now severing her second six-year term. Sandy is a graduate of Addison High School and Bevill State College. She attended Walker College and is currently attending Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, AL. Sandy is very active in the community. She is a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ, Ladies Bible Study Class, and teaches the four and five year old class. She is a member of the Alabama Probate Judge's Association. Sandy is a member and past Vice-Chairman of the Winston County Republican Party and the State of Alabama Republican Committee where she serves on the executive committee. She is a member of the Double Springs Study Club, Chairperson of the Double Springs Civitans, Board Member of the Northwest Alabama Mental Health, Chairperson of the Marion-Winston Community Action, Board Member of the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Board Member of the Marion-Winston Alabama Child Death Review Team, and a board member of the Hospice of Northwest Alabama. Sandy has received the following honors: "Women of the Year" by the Haleyville Business and Professional Women's Organization; "Outstanding Role Model" by the Winston County Girls Scouts of North, AL; "Honored Professional" of the Who's Who Executives and Professionals; NAMI Award for Outstanding Services to the Citizens of Winston County. Sandy
is married to James Horsley who is a Retired Conservation Officer for 37 years
