Haleyville City Council Meeting

AUGUST 16, 2005

• Mayor Larry Albright and council members Jimmy Elliott, Johnny Frazier, Bobby Jack Fuller, Barry Warren, and Tim Edwards were present.
• The Council approved the council meeting minutes of 8/2/05.
• The Council approved the July general operation bills.
• The Council heard the recommendation of the Christmas decorating committee to purchase new Christmas decorations from a Georgia company. When the mayor called for a motion to support the recommendation, none was made, thus dying for lack of a motion. Money for the project would have come from donations, not the city general fund. The committee will be disbanded.
• The Council heard from Suzanne Swain, representative of Safe Place, thanking the city for its help for Safe Place.
• The Council approved a capitalization policy changing an accounting procedure of the city.
• The Council discussed a policy to check employees' driver history.
• The Council approved a proposal to sell industrial property and assist in other ways such as tax abatements for the expansion of an industry known as "Project Maverick."
• During comments from the audience, Collene Bradberry expressed concern over finding adult videos at the Movie Gallery.
• The Haleyville City Council next regular session will be Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 5:30 p.m. at city hall
