On December 7, 2009, Gracie and I traveled to Florence, Alabama, where I was privileged to speak during the morning service at the Cross Point Church of Christ. Cross Point has a special service for those in recovery, but many of their regular members also attend the service in support of those who have made the decision to follow Christ instead of a life of addiction. I appreciate David McCullar of MOMS, which is a rehabilitation facility for addicts, for arranging this opportunity, and those at Cross Point for allowing me the opportunity to speak.
The week before Christmas, Gracie and I, along with our clients, enjoyed a Christmas dinner at the Center. The dinner was part of our holistic philosophy to recovery. What a joy to see children and teens spending Christmas with parents, many of whom have not been sober at the Holliday season in years. It just proves once again the recovery works when the necessary effort and right plan is applied and followed. Ask one of them if they had a good Christmas and you will be blessed by their answer.
2009 has come to an end, and I might say it was a very fast year. We would like to take this opportunity to all of you who have supported Freedom Hills financially, with your prayers, love and concern for Gracie and me, and for the work being done. We appreciate everyone who is involved with this work; helping to reach out to those with an addiction. Some say, it is not a problem, others say, they’re just experimenting, while others; just turn their back on it. I will emphasize once again as I have done before, it is a major problem in our county, communities, school, and yes, it even reaches to our churches. Never think that it can’t happen to someone in your family.
