Community Changes Everything
A Message and a Call to Action from Kyle Hulsey, candidate for Sheriff of Winston County:
We have for too long existed with a Sheriff's office that is reactive; now is the time to live with a Sheriff's office that is Pro-Active!
We ARE a Community of like-minded souls striving to live.
Shouldn't our sheriff care more about us than about himself or his hires?
We ARE a Community of law-abiding citizens.
Shouldn't our Sheriff care more about our lives and quality of life than about his own tenure?
We ARE a Community losing a generation.
From 2000 until now we have lost a generation to drugs! Is it not time for our Sheriff and our Community to intervene?
Should we not be involved in our children's lives ... both in and out of our schools ... presenting law enforcement as our friends and protectors ... through early intervention ... with drug awareness ... with School Resource Officers ... with the Explorer program?
Should we not be educating our parents about the early signs of drug use ... making them 'Drug Aware'?
Isn't it time we came together as a Community to make the difference in our Children's lives?
We ARE a Community that includes the aging.
Cannot our sheriff afford us peace of mind ... cannot we offer welfare safety checks for our senior citizens?
Cannot we educate our senior citizens about scams and other frauds ... offer a senior citizens academy to address the specific issues that affect this valuable segment of our Community?
We ARE a Community that rehabilitates its prisoners.
Cannot we alter our prisoners' paths ... give them opportunity ... give them hope ... teach them responsibility ... help them reintegrate into the Community?
We ARE a Community that has learned from the Past and looks to a better Future. We ARE a Community that needs to come together ...
Isn't it time for a Sheriff to take responsibility, to work to better the Community with the Community's help, TO STEP UP?!
A little about me, personally:
I was born in 1971, in Haleyville, right here in Winston County.
I am married to Brandy Hulsey and we are raising our two children - Tori (16) and Parker (6).
I was a Haleyville Police Officer from 1997 until 2008.
I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of North Alabama in 2004, while working full-time.
I am a Member of the National Criminal Justice Honors Society.
I am a Member of the National Collegiate Honors Society.
I currently am a small business owner in Haleyville.
