Haleyville City Council Meeting

AUGUST 1, 2005

• Mayor Larry Albright, Jimmy Elliott, Bobby Jack Fuller, Barry Warren and Tim Edwards were present. Johnny Frazier was absent.
  
• Mayor Albright presented a proclamation to Haleyville Fire Chief Ralph Edwards designating August as Haleyville Firefighters Appreciation Month.
  
• The council approved an agreement with the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments (NACOLG) for a study identifying the location of buildings and houses in Haleyville. The water department that has use of the data will fund the six thousand dollar study.
  
• The council approved the hiring of Richard Cutting and Bill Sibley as school crossing guards.
  
• Comments from the audience included Gravis Mays and Larry Butler of Mays Wholesale Flowers who expressed thanks to the Haleyville firefighters for their response last week.
  
• Mr. Mays stated he was, "very thankful for the new ladder truck. They would not have been able to save the other buildings." Mr. Mays stated that a contractor was already on site in preparation to rebuild the burned down buildings.
  
• The Haleyville City Council meets the first and third Tuesdays. The next scheduled council meeting will be Tuesday, August 16, 5:30 PM at city hall.
